Virtual Wellness Sessions
In this time of social distancing due to the covid-19 pandemic, continuing to care for yourself physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually is vitally important. Given the unusual circumstances, you may be experiencing fear, anxiety, panic, insomnia, frustration, irritability, depression, moodiness, racing thoughts, worry, or grief. Perhaps you are feeling even more stressed because you are immunocompromised or have an underlying health issue such as asthma, diabetes, or high blood pressure that puts you at increased risk. You may also be dealing with conditions that were present prior to the pandemic such as migraines, pain, allergies, autoimmunity, fatigue, mental health challenges, digestive issues, or uncomfortable menstrual or menopausal symptoms. These are all issues that I have successfully helped my patients to manage or overcome.
While I have returned to offering acupuncture treatments in person, some people prefer working together virtually at this time. For this reason, I am offering new ways of connecting and making my services, knowledge, and experience available to patients online. You can now consult with me without having to leave home by booking a Virtual Wellness Session. These sessions will be conducted via a secure, HIPAA compliant video chat platform that is simple to use.
I have been working in the healing arts field for twenty years, and I have a broad array of techniques that I can teach you to help you with the health challenges you may be facing. These are techniques that you can learn and practice on your own, any time you need them. While needles are wonderful tools, they are not the only way to stimulate your body's capacity to repair, regulate, and heal itself. As with acupuncture, each virtual session will be tailored to your individual needs.
Virtual sessions may include:
- advice on methods of optimizing immunity and making yourself more resilient in the face of the current pandemic
- practical tips you can use to manage or resolve your existing health issues using Chinese medicine principles
- guided self-acupressure, self-massage, and self-reflexology techniques
- instruction in breathing and relaxation practices
- instruction in qi gong practices (qi gong exercises combine movement and breathing to support health and reduce stress)
- recommendations for therapeutic essential oils or herbs
- ideas for using lifestyle and food choices to improve your wellbeing
- support around working through difficult emotions from a Five Element perspective
- holding space for consciously and intentionally cultivating a sense of calm in these stressful times
Here's what patients are saying about their virtual wellness sessions:
"I was actually shocked at how effective the distance work was. It was potent, and I slept like a baby on my yoga mat for a half hour after the session in the same deeply restful state I get from an in-person needle treatment, then went back to my day with a calmer nervous system. This was a very helpful appointment - thank you for the healing session."
"I got so much from our virtual session today. Since we signed off, I've felt much more positive and creative about the good that can come from this period, and in general. It's wonderful to be blessed with the resource of you for me. You really do "get" me, and I appreciate all the wellness you have helped me achieve over the years."

- For established patients, Virtual Wellness Sessions are 1 hour in length ($75). If you would like to give someone the gift of a Virtual Wellness Session, gift certificates can be purchased here.
- For new patients, the first virtual appointment will be a 1.5 hour Initial Virtual Wellness Session ($120). The extra time will allow us to discuss your health history and goals so that I can design telehealth treatments that best meet your unique needs.
- I am licensed to practice in Virginia and in Washington, DC, so patients who sign up for Virtual Wellness Sessions must be in one of those two locales.
- Both new and established patients will need to fill out a telehealth consent form and return it to me prior to their appointment. The forms can be found here.
- If you are an established patient and have been successfully using your FSA or HSA card for acupuncture treatments, you can use that same card for virtual wellness sessions.
- If you are an established patient and your health insurance has been reimbursing you for acupuncture treatments, I can provide you with a superbill for telehealth services that you can submit for reimbursement. I cannot guarantee that all plans will cover these codes, but it is a possibility.
