COVID-19 Safety Precautions

My patients' wellbeing is my highest priority and I am doing my utmost to make my office a safe and supportive space for healing. As I return to offering office visits, here are the precautions I will be taking to minimize the risk of COVID-19 transmission in my office.

  • Virtual Pre-Treatment Check-Ins: The conversation that we normally have at the beginning of your acupuncture visit will now be held the day before your office visit via secure video conference. This way, we will be able to speak freely without masks, see each other's smiles, and reduce time spent talking in a shared indoor space. This will be our chance to discuss how you are doing, what has changed since your last appointment, and what you would like to address in your upcoming acupuncture treatment.

  • 45 Minute Office Visits: In-person acupuncture appointments will now be 45 minutes in length. Because we will have already discussed your goals for the treatment during our virtual check-in, we will be able to get right down to doing the treatment once you arrive. Once your needles are in place, I will step out of the room and allow you to relax during your treatment until it is time remove the needles.

  • Pre-Treatment Screenings: All patients will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms, exposure, and risk factors prior to each appointment. The reminder email that patients receive 48 hours before their appointment will contain a link to a screening questionnaire that must be filled out within the 48 hours before their treatment.

  • Patients who have symptoms of COVID-19 or who have tested positive and have not yet recovered cannot be seen in the office. Symptomatic or COVID-19 positive patients are welcome to book virtual wellness sessions for support in managing their symptoms.

  • Temperature Checks and Re-Screening: Upon arrival, each patient's temperature will be taken and the screening questions will be repeated before entering into the office. If a patient's temperature is 100.0 or higher, or if the screening questionnaire reveals heightened risk, the appointment will be rescheduled and the patient will be referred to their primary doctor for follow-up. There will be no late cancellation fee if the appointment must be rescheduled for these reasons.

  • Masks will be required at all times. All patients must arrive wearing a mask and continue to wear the mask for the entire duration of their treatment. I will also be wearing a mask at all times while in the office.

  • Patients will be asked to use hand sanitizer upon entering the suite. Hand sanitizer will also be available in the treatment room.

  • The waiting room will not be used. Patients should arrive no earlier than 5 minutes prior to their appointment time. The door to the suite will be locked and I will come to the door to let you in when it is time for your appointment.

  • Air purifiers will be running in the hallway and the treatment room.

  • The treatment room window will be opened between sessions for extra ventilation. The window may also be left open during treatments, weather permitting.

  • All surfaces touched during a patient's visit will be disinfected with an EPA-approved cleaning solution after every appointment.

  • Linens will no longer be used. Soft disposable table paper will be used instead, and the table surface will be disinfected after each use. I will still be able to use the table warmer and the heat lamp. Whenever possible, please come in wearing clothes with sleeves/pant legs/hems that can be easily pushed up so that disrobing is not necessary. Paper gowns will be provided as needed.

  • All pillows will be in vinyl coverings that will be wiped down with disinfectant between uses.

  • Contactless payments will be handled via invoice. After your treatment, you will receive a Square invoice via email, which will allow you to use your credit card to pay online.

  • I will be monitoring my own temperature and screening myself for symptoms each time I come to the office.

  • I am getting vaccinated. I received my first vaccine dose on February 10 and will receive my second dose on March 10.
